Employment Services for Department of Rehabilitation Clients
A-DA offers job search and placement assistance to individuals who are clients of the California Department of Rehabilitation and are ready to seek employment. We are seeking individuals who will actively participate in their own job search and who wish to take advantage of the support in finding employment that our staff can provide. A-DA is a vendor of the Department of Rehabilitation and is authorized to provide employment readiness training, job search and placement assistance, as well as job retention support.

Able-Disabled Advocacy offers:

  • One-on-one personalized assistance based on the needs of each participant
  • A comprehensive series of job search classes to teach how to conduct an effective job search
  • An Employment Specialist who is assigned to each participant who to guide and monitor each participant’s job search
  • Help with resumes, cover letters, and interviewing
  • Motivation, support, and encouragement
  • Staff members who will contact employers
  • A job search room with internet access that is open daily
  • Coaching on presentation and sales pitch to employers
  • Job retention support while working to increase employment success

 

Job Readiness Class Topics include:

  • How to tailor a resume to match a job description
  • Crafting eye catching cover letters
  • How to handle phone screenings
  • How to get posted job leads emailed to you
  • What employers are looking for in those personality assessment tests
  • List of common questions asked in job interviews
  • Use of social media in job search

You must be referred to A-DA by your DOR counselor. A-DA has partnered with DOR counselors to provide vocational rehabilitation services for individuals with disabilities for more than twenty years. We can easily contact your counselor on your behalf. These services are provided at our main office in San Diego only. We take individuals with all skill levels and career interests.
