Microsoft Office Specialist Program
Program Overview
This program was created for individuals who are interested in working in an environment or position that requires skills using Microsoft Office. The goal is successful completion of the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification for Microsoft Word.
The program is broken down into three segments: training, test preparation, and job search. The entire program should take 6 months or less to complete. The schedule is as follows:
- Training: 10 weeks
- Test Prep: 8 weeks
- Job Search: 8 weeks
There are 16 courses offered for the Microsoft Office Specialist track. Generally students are expected to complete all assignments by their due date, this usually means completing between 3-5 hours of coursework each week. On average each course takes an estimated 2 1/2 to 3 hours to complete.
All courses are self-paced and offered online. Students do not have to complete a course in one sitting, and may save their progress at different points and return to complete the course when it is convenient. Most courses include sample tests to help the student gauge their progress and comprehension of the subject matter. For some courses, students will be provided with printed study materials.
