CAREERworks Career & Technical Education Programs

CAREERworks offers FREE comprehensive training in Information Technology through our various Department of Labor-funded programs. As a CompTIA Certified Academy, we are dedicated to supporting our clients on their journey to upscale their skills toward a career in Tech. NEW! – CAREERworks Cybersecurity Training Program

Are you an Information Technology Professional in need of additional certification? We have received federal funding to support individuals in Information Technology through our Cybersecurity Training program. Receive access to:

  • Comprehensive 8-10 week training through CompTIA Certified Academy (ex. CySA+, Security+, A+, and more!) with the aid of our IT instructors ($3,000+ value FREE)
  • Financial coverage for the certification exam if you opt into one of our training tracts ($392 exam value FREE)
  • Access to self-paced individual online training materials
  • Individualized Job readiness training for the IT industry with the aid of our Workforce Development team
  • Employment assistance toward a career in Information Technology
  • Internship Opportunities to receive hands-on experience – $20/hr for 200 hours with one of our internship community partners (Limited spaces available – email chantel@able2work.org for more information)

Program Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be 18 or older
  • At least a high school diploma 
  • Must be unemployed, underemployed, transitioning military (within 180 days of EOS), or unemployed Veteran
  • If working, you must provide documentation from your employer to show the potential of wage increase, promotion, or retention of employment if you obtain a particular certification from our program
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. 
  • No criminal background (minor offenses may not disqualify you) 
  • Males must have registered for selective service
  • Must have at least 1 proof of San Diego Residency

NOW ENROLLING FOR OUR ONLINE CYSA+ COURSE – ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR OUR JULY COHORT!

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR APPLICANTS INTERESTED IN THE CYSA+ COURSE:

Classes will be offered virtually on Monday and Tuesday evenings – Apply NOW!

  • 4 Years of hands-on experience as an incident response analyst or security operations center analyst
  • 2 years of cybersecurity work experience with IT-related certifications (A+, Linux+, Network+, etc.)
  • One year of cybersecurity work experience with cybersecurity certifications (Sec+, CASP+, CCSP, Azure Security, etc.)
  • An Associate’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems can substitute for 1 year of Cybersecurity work experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems can substitute for 2 years of Cybersecurity Work experience

CAREERworks Information Technology CompTIA Pre-Apprenticeship Program ( Ages18-24)

New to the workforce? Looking to break into the IT industry? CAREERworks is now accepting applications for our CompTIA Pre-Apprenticeship program for transitional-age youth. Accepted applicants will receive: 

  • Access to comprehensive in-person training in A+ and Security+ through our CompTIA Certified Academy 
  • Financial coverage for your 1st attempt at the A+ and Security+ certification exams if you opt into our cohorts
  • Access to additional training materials (labs, practice tests, Quizlet, videos, additional certifications, etc.)
  • Individualized Job readiness training for the IT industry
  • Employment assistance toward a career in Information Technology
  • Professional Development Packages for graduating students with an Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree in a Tech-related field of study who have been offered employment in a technical role.
  • Opportunity to receive up to $1500 in training stipends for consistent attendance to class

Eligibility for Admissions: 

  • Between the ages of 18 – 24 
  • Must have at least a high school diploma 
  • Able to attend classes or meetings in City Heights, San Diego
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. 
  • No criminal background (minor offenses may not disqualify you) 
  • Males must have registered for selective service

The CAREERworks Apprenticeship Program is a project funded by the U.S. Department of Labor in the amount of $3,343,000 over a 3 year period to accelerate employment in San Diego County.
